Kemyndable Flute Trio Concert

While many works of Classical music have been inspired by nature, there is a particular affinity between the flute and the song of birds. Many composers have written works inspired by birdsong specifically for Flute Ensemble. Among the works performed and discussed in this program are works by F.A. Hoffmeister, C. Saint-Saens, Frederick Delius, and Herman Beeftink.

This enjoyable and informative concert also incorporates a PowerPoint presentation that discusses the joys, but also the challenges that arise when a composer creates music that is about a specific object or event, and how that differs from music created for its own sake.

About the Kemyndable Flute Trio: The Kemyndable Flute Trio (pronounced "Commendable") is one of Orange County's newest and most unique chamber ensembles. Our oddly spelled name is formed by rearranging the letters in our names, Amy, Deb, and Ken. We have been playing together since 2012 in several ensembles including the Symphonic Band for the State University of NY-Orange, the Maybrook Wind Ensemble, and The Party of Four Quartet.
