| From Rene Tetro, (Thanks for clearing up
the fuzzie perf tape memory banks --
Don) From Left to Right: Collins 5KW FM transmitter - this transmitter was purchased used, installed in 1966, and operated at 3.7 KW output to get the 3KW ERP from the antenna. RCA BTA-1R1 - This was the newer of the two AM transmitters, circa mid-60s. In these days it was designated as the "MAIN" transmitter. It also has the "honor" (?) of being the first AM transmitter I ever had to fix. Collins 20V2 - this was the "ALTERNATE MAIN" transmitter, which we ran on-air every Monday. It was WALL's 250 watt transmitter from the 1950s that was upgraded to 1000 watts with an upgrade kit made available from Collins. (It actually sounded better on the air than the RCA). |
